20,097 new Shopify stores launched this week, covering Oct 5 to Oct 11. That is up 2.4% on the 19,626 that launched over Sep 28 to Oct 4.

The window covers complete days only. A week that included today would be comparing a few hours against seven finished days, which is the quickest way to invent a decline that never happened.

Day by day

The busiest day was Oct 9 with 3,393 newly launched Shopify stores. The spread between the busiest and quietest day of a normal week is wide, which is exactly why a weekly figure is more useful than any single day when you are trying to see a direction.

What a week of new stores is worth

20,097 brand new Shopify stores in seven days is more than any team can work by hand, so the question is never whether there is enough. It is which slice you take. Country, category and the apps a store installs in its first days all narrow the list into something a real person can actually contact.

The value of each one is highest right now, in the first week, while the founder is still building and has not been pitched by everyone else. That is the whole reason to measure launches weekly rather than discovering a store months after it opened.

Counts are drawn live from FisherLeads, which confirms each Shopify store is genuinely new and live before counting it. Figures last confirmed October 11, 2026. For the monthly view, read The State of New Shopify Stores.
